Scarlett Knob Mod

You know that I’m a big fan of the Scarlett series A/D’s by Focusrite. Very clean amplifier circuits, nice clean interface, everything you need, nuthin’ you don’t, yadda yadda….

The one gripe I have is that the little indents on the input gain knobs are pretty invisible under the general lighting conditions in my studio. They are a simple black knob with a slight indent – also black – to indicate the input level settings. I keep the room illumination low, and none of it falls directly on the face of my 2i2. Which means at the start of almost every recording session, I have to twist the desk lamp out of position while turning the knob to the correct point for a given level.
This past week, I did this again for the umpteenth millionth time. As I observed my actions and frustrations, it occurred to me that I should eliminate this vexation from my recording practice.

The result is one less distraction when I start my auditions or sessions.
